What is Podcasting?

Simply put, podcasting is radio on demand. Once you find a podcast you would like to subscribe to, you enter the podcast link into your favorite media player or software, and the programs are automatically downloaded to your computer for you. Think of it as TiVo for your iPod, or podcasting PC software. You can download whatever programming you want and then listen to it whenever and wherever you want. Generally, you will also have access to the audio archives for the program(s) you like. Sounds nifty, eh?

Umm ... sure. But what's a podcast link?

A podcast link is simply a file that contains information about a particular podcast. The file is usually an XML or an RSS file. You might see links set that look like this:

And, this is the important part, most people really don't even want to see the contents of this file. So, the next time you click on one of the links (as opposed to saving the link location), just remember, You were warned.

How do I get started with podcasting?

First determine if you want to listen to podcasts using your PC or your iPod (or other portable media player).

Using your PC

Download one of the many free podcast readers online. Some commonly suggested programs would be:

Get Juice!

Get iTunes!

Using an iPod or other media player

Download the corresponding program for your media player or MP3 device. The most common media player would be the Apple iPod which uses iTunes software.

Once you have a reader installed, you can subscribe to any Podcasting feed (including ours) simply by copying the xml url into your reader.

OK! And how do I copy the xml url into my reader?

To subscribe to Living Truth Radio's podcast from a Windows based PC , right-click

( ... or the XML button in our site footer ... ) and choose Copy Shortcut. Switch to your reader software and select File, New menu option (and, of course, this will vary based on your reader or software). Follow the menus to add the Living Truth Radio Podcast. Of course, if you are using iTunes to gather podcasts, then use the button labeled iTunes 1-CLICK (also in the footer).

Remember, if you click directly on the podcast link, your browser window will fill up with raw XML code. You do not need this code, and you probably don't even want to see this code. You just need just the URL (the shortcut you are copying) that points your reader to our channel.
